MTC Promotes Tennis & Fitness

MTC through the Marshfield Recreation Department is conducting a 6 week Adult Cardio tennis program on Monday nights at the Marshfield High School gym.  The program  has eight adults and has been a huge success with plans to continue next Fall.  Bud Duksta, the instructor, has donated his time and all fees have gone to the Marshfield Recreation Department.

Spring Junior clinics begin at Peter Igo Park on April 25th.  Ages 6-8: 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.; Ages 9-12:  9:30 - 10:30 a.m.
Adult Cardio is tennis offered at same location from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. ... all under the guidance of MTC,  PTR certified instuctor.
Sign up by calling the Marshfield Recreation Department at  (781) 834-5543.  Again the instructor (Bud Duksta) has donated his time and all monies collected from participants will go to the Marshfield Recreation Department general fund.

Tennis Court Renovation

Since 2007, The MTC has been working with local government and the USTA to secure funding for the renovation of Peter Igo Park and repairs to the high school courts.  Despite a recent unfavorable ruling by the Massachusetts Supreme Court regarding expenditures of Community Preservation Funds to renovate existing recreational facilities the beat goes on.  We will continue to obtain quotes for the high school courts and the Peter Igo initiative and look for other sources of funding including the USTA regional and national, corporate sponsors and fundraising.  Please, any and all suggestions will be much appreciated.  In the meantime, here's an artist's rendering of the proposed redesigned park:

To partial fund the MTC activities we ask you to join the Club with a $25 ($50 for family) membership fee.   Your contribution not only supports our effort of promoting the sport of tennis but will be put to work to help maintain Marshfield’s public courts. Click on application at top of page.

We have solicited local merchants to offer MTC members a discount on their goods and services.   So join the club and carry the card, support tennis, shop a local merchant and save.
